PEUGEOT FAST-TRACKS EV LAUNCH

Peugeot has revealed an ambitious new electric vehicle release plan, pulling forward the launch of two new award-winning models.

“With the attention surrounding the Clean Car rebate and unprecedented interest in the Peugeot range of low-emission vehicles, we have decided to fast track the launch of the e-208 GT and e-2008 SUV,” said the CEO of Auto Distributors New Zealand, Chris Brown.

“The time is right to build on our low-emission vehicle foundations, enhance our sustainability credentials and make a bold play in what is a lively market place.

“Therefore, from June, it’s possible to reserve one of 100 new Peugeot full-electric vehicles, with delivery taking place later this year, aspiring owners are able to utilise the full $8,625 Clean Car rebate.”

The e-208 GT will be available from $59,990 meaning, after rebate will be $51,365, while the price of the e-2008 SUV will reduce from $69,990 to $61,365 with application of the rebate.

Both EV’s have a five-year/100,000 km mechanical warranty and the battery is guaranteed for eight-years/160,000 km for 70% of its charge capacity, with the two models offering a range of 340km and 320km WLTP respectively.

“Peugeot is acknowledged as a leader in new and clean technology in Europe and we aspire to replicate this position here in New Zealand,” said Mr Brown.

“We have the credentials to do so as, in 2020, Stellantis average CO2 emissions for Europe was 97g per km – so we are well aware of the change required to achieve the targets the government is setting.”

“We’re incredibly proud to be able to bring these vehicles to market, as New Zealand is one of the few markets outside of Europe to be getting EV’s this year.”

In addition to the news of the accelerated launch of the e-208 GT and e-2008 SUV, Peugeot is also increasing production of the plug-in hybrid 3008 GT HYBRID4 (PHEV).

“Peugeot continues to offer a variety of fully-electric and sustainable motoring solutions, delivering the power to choose,” said Mr Brown.

“The time for change is now and Peugeot is able to make a significant contribution to the future of environmentally-responsible motoring in New Zealand.  People interested in securing some of the first Peugeot EV’s can visit peugeot.co.nz to register their interest. “

The level of specification of the new e-208 GT and e-2008 GT SUV models will be similar to the current Peugeot range, more details will be released closer to launch.
