About the event

Bruce Cullen is the Project Director for the Downtown Joint Venture delivering the Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme.

Bruce will talk about the Early Contractor Involvement, Enabling Works Contract and Main Works Contract. He will also discuss some key elements of the Project including the Contract model and commercial terms, the Development Response programme and the complexity around fast-tracking the project within New Zealand’s most populated and busy precinct.

This will be followed by an onsite visit.

About the Downtown Project

The Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme oversees the integrated delivery under a single contract a programme of high profile strategic Auckland Transport and Auckland Council projects, to bring to life the vision of a generous and welcoming destination along the water’s edge that is recognisably Tāmaki Makaurau.

This work is vital for achieving a functioning waterfront, visitor experience, and transport hub (rail / ferry, bus) as well as enduring legacy value improving Auckland’s visibility on the world stage during and after key events from 2020.

The Downtown JV delivering the Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme is made up of Downer NZ, Soletanche Bachy and HEB Construction.

More about the speakers

Bruce Cullen is the Project Director for the Downtown JV delivering the Downtown
Infrastructure Development Programme. The JV is made up of Downer NZ, Soletanche
Bachy and HEB Construction.

Prior to this Bruce was a Downer NZ Executive for twelve years and during this time held a
number of leadership roles within the NZ business.

Bruce is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Professional
Engineers. He has over 30 years Contracting, Consultancy and Client experience across
New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific Islands and the UK.

Bruce has extensive company management, project and asset management, construction and maintenance knowledge
across a wide range of infrastructure and strong experience in running large complex multi-
disciplined businesses.

Alexandra Favre was Project Engineer for the Downtown JV, working specifically on the Jet Grouting works as part of the Quay Street Strengthening.

She has worked with Soletanche Bachy for the past three years, for international projects involving different techniques: diaphragm wall, piles, micro-piles, jet grouting, civil works.

Alexandra has developed skills in site management, construction knowledge, planification and cost control.
